Top 25 Best Camping Essentials for Your Next Outdoor Adventure

There’s something incredibly satisfying about camping. We have only our skills to rely on and just a few essentials that should make the whole adventure a bit easier for us. However, what should we bring? What are the best camping essentials that will make our next adventure not only fun but also a total success?

We’ve done our research, and we have the answers. For your next outdoor adventure, make a checklist of these things, and make sure you take each one so that your camping trip stays in the problem-free zone.

1. Toilet paper

Although self-explanatory, most campers fail to bring toilet paper with them. Nevertheless, there are some great camping toilet paper varieties out there, which come in a compact dispenser and are biodegradable.

2. A flashlight

The night is dark and full of…well, darkness. So in order not to get scared by anything on the campsite, we ought to bring a few flashlights with us.

3. A sizeable tent

Comfort is not something we can hope for when camping. However, there are plenty of high-quality tents on the market that will allow us to get a proper night’s sleep even when sleeping on the ground.

4. Paper plates

We have to eat from something, but regular plates won’t work. Hence, we need a pack of paper plates we can easily dispose of.

5. Plastic storage bags

Like their name says, we can use these bags for storage and pack practically anything in them. Moreover, they’re also fantastic for keeping our leftovers fresh inside our cooler.

6. A cooler

Keeping our food nice and fresh is not easy when on a camping trip. Thus, a great cooler will serve us well, especially if we want to cook something later on. We can even take two coolers and use one of them just for water.

7. Some tables and chairs (foldable)

Sitting around a fire will be a lot easier and more comfortable if we take some foldable chairs and a table. There are plenty of these to choose from on the market. However, they ought to be small and compact enough to fit in our trunk.

8. A hat

Great for sunshine and fantastic if it rains — a good hat is indispensable on outdoor adventures.

9. A bug repellant

Self-explanatory, but let’s just say it — in nature, bugs are everywhere. Thus, we have to protect ourselves at all costs. Spray or stick, it doesn’t matter — we need to have a bug repellant on us at all times.

10. A camper multi-tool (or a Swiss knife)

Great for cutting, chopping and protecting ourselves — a multi-tool is a must.

11. Duct tape

Duct tape can be used for all sorts of things in nature, so it’s necessary to take it. You never know when something will go loose or break. With duct tape, we’ll easily fix some problems and carry on with our adventure.

12. A camping guide

When in doubt, a guide will tell us what our next move should be.

13. Solar-powered camp shower

Who says we have to give up showers in nature? A solar-powered camp shower gadget will allow us to have a warm shower next to a tree!

14. Matches

Lighting a campfire is not easy, and more often than not, we don’t know how to do it with rocks. But we don’t even have to trouble ourselves with it. All we need are matches.

15. A sleeping bag (preferably one that comes with pillows)

Most campers use sleeping bags, and for a good reason. They provide not only protection but also the warmth we need to fall asleep. What’s more, some of them also come with pillows, which is an even better idea.

16. Utensils

Plastic or not, without utensils and no running water to wash our hands, we’re bound to have a bad time on our trip.

17. Portable LED lantern

As we’ve said, it’s dark outside, so we’ll need some light. Hence, a portable LED lantern for our tent is the ideal solution.

18. A solar power portable charger

An absolute essential in the 21st century if we want to use our gadgets even while camping.

19. A hammock

If we want to rest a bit and not lie on the floor all the time, a hammock will come in handy.

20. A grill or a Dutch oven

Cooking our food will be a lot easier if we have something to place it into or onto. A grill is great for meat enthusiasts. However, a  Dutch oven is even more useful, as we can use it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

21. A first aid kit

A must-have both for beginners and seasoned campers. We ought to have it with us at all times, especially if we have children.

22. Paper cups

A necessity if we love drinking coffee in the morning or if we’re not planning on bringing a lot of water bottles.

23. Toiletries

Hygiene is of the utmost importance, even when in nature. Thus, a small bag with basic toiletries should find itself in our camping backpack.

24. Thermal blankets

It can get quite chilly outside in the morning, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. With thermal blankets, we won’t feel the cold nor will we come back from our camping trip sneezing and wheezing.

25. Sunscreen

Last but not least — we need to protect our skin. Therefore, a bottle of sunscreen with a UV factor of at least 20 will come in handy, especially if we’re taking our children along.
